Building the Strongback (07/05/01)

It took me an afternoon and an evening to assemble the strongback using 3/4 inch plywood.   Cutting the two 5'x8' plywood sheets into the required sizes took another afternoon.strongback.JPG (18674 bytes)

I followed the instructions in Ted Moore's Canoecraft without any problems.

However, since I was using my sister's garage I didn't want to epoxy the foot cleats to the cement for fear of ripping up concrete when it comes time to remove them.   Caulking seemed to hold after it was completely dry.  The stand did not shift during any stage of construction of the canoe.
